Arts from the ARM
Artwork inspired by Marshall’s Arm and celebrating its 25th year as a Local Nature Reserve
Over 50 submissions were received for the Art from the Arm exhibition which was held in the Visual Arts Cheshire ( VAC ) gallery at Barons Quay, Northwich this August. But there can only be one winner, and that was Sally Bebbington with her acrylic painting ‘Explore the Depths’, pictured here with Marshall’s Arm volunteer Virginia Hunt. Sally was inspired to create this painting after taking part in the Wildflower Walk at Marshall’s Arm in May.
‘ I had never visited the nature reserve before,’ said Sally, ‘ but I was overwhelmed by the carpets of wildflowers and the soaring trees by the stream. In fact there was so much to inspire my future paintings. I’ll definitely be visiting again ‘
Although Sally won the Marshall’s Arm prize for her painting, VAC presented a sculpture prize to Gill Naylor for her lovely ceramic fox which she ‘ … could just imagine curled up in the hollow stump of an old tree ‘
Both prizes were awarded after a popular vote by the many visitors to the exhibition. Virginia hopes that more people will come along and be inspired by ‘Fascinating, Fungal Forms’ on the 8th October fungal foray.
